President and CEO
Arun Banskota is President and CEO of NRG Energy's Petra Nova subsidiary developing a commercial-scale carbon capture project at existing coal-fueled generation and then using the captured carbon dioxide to make the project economically viable through Enhanced Oil Recovery on mature oil fields. He is also President of NRG Energy's Electric Vehicle Services, also known as eVgo, a start-up venture focused on developing electric vehicle infrastructure which has already established world-leading infrastructures in Houston and Dallas Fort Worth and is about to launch EV infrastructures across California and the greater Washington DC area.
Previously, Arun led NRG's Texas Wholesale Generation business, including a portfolio of 11,000 megawatts of diverse generation with over $1.2 billion in earnings and numerous development projects. Arun has more than 20 years of experience in developing, financing and managing renewable and fossil energy projects around the world. He served as the Managing Director of Global Power, the power generation business unit of El Paso Corporation, where he was responsible for 32 power plants in 14 countries with a generation capacity of 6,500 megawatts and a diverse portfolio of development projects. As Vice President of project development for OptiSolar (a start-up venture, later acquired by First Solar) Arun successfully built a backlog of solar projects totaling more than 1,500 megawatts. Arun was earlier a Partner at International Resources Group, an international management consulting firm. Arun holds a MA from the University of Denver and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago. He has served on numerous Boards, including those that are publicly listed.
Vice President, Commercial
David leads Petra Nova’s development program for the carbon capture business line ,including the announced project at NRG’s WA Parish plant. Since joining NRG four years ago, he has led the company to construct a combined cycle unit near Houston and has obtained air permits for a new 900MW supercritical pulverized coal unit at NRG’s Limestone station. Prior to joining NRG, David spent 26 years with Houston Lighting & Power Co. and the subsequent owners of the company's wholesale power division. In that role, he developed power plant projects in California, Nevada, Arizona, Florida, Rhode Island, and Illinois.
Director, Engineering and Construction
Anthony (Tony) coordinates the engineering design, construction, and commissioning activities to ensure Petra Nova projects are properly scoped, effectively managed, and successfully delivered. Before joining Petra Nova, Tony worked in NRG's EPC (Engineering, Procurement, & Construction) organization supporting compliance of policies and procedures while acting as an Assistant Project Manager on key projects. Prior to his EPC role, he worked in NRG's Plant Operations organization as a Corporate Business Manager delivering fleet-wide results in strategic planning, forecasting and performance reporting.
Development Jonathan is the HSE and pipeline construction lead for Petra Nova. Prior to joining Petra Nova, he spent 19 years selecting routes, permitting and conducting NEPA assessments for various linear projects throughout the country. During his 17 years with El Paso Corporation, Jonathan worked on pipeline, compression, underground storage, telecommunications, and LNG projects and facilities in the United States, Mexico and Canada. He also has extensive experience in environmental impact mitigation, regulatory compliance, conducting facility safety and environmental audits, community relations and emergency response planning.
Averill Conn is responsible for Petra Nova's legal affairs, including the negotiation of Petra Nova's agreements with its constructors, service providers and operators and is a Senior Counsel of NRG Energy. Since joining NRG Energy's legal team in May 2009 following the company's acquisition of Reliant Energy, Averill has served in a variety of roles as corporate counsel for the NRG Texas wholesale, development and origination businesses as well as NRG eVgo, NRG's electric vehicle services business unit. Prior to joining Reliant in 2008, she spent several years in private practice at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP. Averill received her BA in Classical Civilization from Yale University and her JD from the University of Texas at Austin.
Senior Project Director, Asset Management
Greg is responsible for the management of Petra Nova's assets and the many commercial agreements that are needed to develop and manage the carbon capture project. Greg has over 30 years of industry experience starting with Houston Lighting & Power Co. and the subsequent owners of the company's wholesale power division. In that role, he managed several large projects and most recently was responsible for Asset Management of GenOn's southeast fleet of assets. Greg has a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Houston.
Devon Stonitsch manages Petra Nova’s financial planning and analysis, accounting, and financial reporting activities. Prior to joining Petra Nova, Devon held various positions at NRG Energy in Corporate Accounting from September 2004 to August 2007 and in Financial Planning & Analysis from August 2007 to December 2010, most recently as Manager, Budgets and Forecasts. Devon holds an MBA and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting from Rider University.
Peggy serves as executive assistant to the Petra Nova organization. In this capacity, she manages a broad range of planning and organizational activities. Peggy came to Petra Nova with a wealth of experience in facilitating the day-to-day business activities of project development organizations at Murex Petroleum, BFI, and Enron Oil and Gas.
